Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers was selected as a Western Conference All-Star for the ninth time in his career, following a couple of seasons marred by injuries.
During the 2023–24 season, Davis served as the Lakers’ anchor and just missed being selected as a starter. while coming off the bench, Davis contributed enough to the game to earn eight assists while only scoring six points.
But the Eastern Conference easily defeated Davis and the Western Conference in a game that saw multiple classic LeBron James dunks and Damian Lillard’s Kobe Bryant MVP Award. Fans and the league office had not anticipated a competitive game, but at least Davis and James were not injured.
Although Davis had the opportunity to play with some of the NBA’s biggest names, he mentioned Luka Doncic and Nikola Jokic as his two favorite teammates.
“Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic,” Davis remarked. “Those guys are hilarious.” They are quite humorous. Being on the opposing side of every play that they produce is a pleasant experience. But having them share the court was enjoyable.
Despite being voted into the starting lineup, Doncic and Jokic appeared to be having fun both on and off the court, suggesting that they didn’t take the game seriously. The two celebrities are close friends who obviously cared more about having fun with their friends and the public than they did about trying to win the game.
Doncic and Jokic, who are inherently selfless playmakers, took Davis’ lead and focused more on passing than shooting the ball. With 24 assists in total, the three let teammates like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Karl-Anthony Towns handle all of the scoring.
