Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Marcus Mariota has found a new home. After one season with the Philadelphia Eagles, the veteran quarterback remains in the NFC East.Mariota has dropped a lot since being the No. 2 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft. He now joins his fifth NFL franchise.

The Commanders have the No. 2 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft and will likely use it at quarterback. Mariota is a veteran who could help the pack at what will be a rookie quarterback. However, the Chiefs are unlikely to let him start. Mariota had a chance to start with the Atlanta Falcons in 2022 and it was a disaster.

He started 13 games and went 5-8 before being benched. He threw for 15 touchdowns and just nine interceptions, but he wasn’t effective.Like the Commanders, the Raiders are currently in quarterback limbo and could draft one in April. However, the team signed a solid shortstop in Gardner Minshew. While the $25 million price tag the team is paying for Minshew is a bit rich for a backup, he provides a safety net if Las Vegas can’t produce the quarterback they want.Mariota’s days as a starter are probably over. . , but he has a spare.

His ability to make plays with his feet makes him at least somewhat dangerous when he has to come in and make plays. Mariota will likely be third on the depth chart behind Sam Howell and whoever rookie Washington ends up drafting.Mariota will sign a one-year, $6 million deal with the Washington Commanders, according to a March 12 post by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
