Jones is going to be extremely wealthy this summer after reasonably holding out for a contract extension (and ultimately accepting a one-year deal). It also won’t be that easy, despite Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach’s recent statement that re-signing Jones is “at the top of the list.” Jones is expected to cost more than $25 million, which is around $10 million more than the Chiefs have in cap space. Jones will turn 30 in July, so now is the perfect moment for him to cash in on a contender. Houston, where the Texans will have the luxury of salary money thanks to C.J. Stroud’s rookie contract, is the best match, in my opinion. Houston’s offensive line remains mostly intact going into 2024.

aside from some space for development at tight end and running back (could Dalton Schultz make a comeback?)Therefore, why not use part of the $67 million that the Texans have available to them to strengthen a group that has already performed well with Maliek Collins and upcoming free agency Sheldon Rankins up front? Jones is a beast who directly contributed to the Chiefs winning another championship, and he may have a similar effect on DeMeco Ryans’ defense in Houston. Let’s turn this fantasy into a reality.
