The two important players who will be absent at Home Park are Pascal Struijk and Sam Byram, although Jamie Shackleton’s availability is excellent news.
Prior to Tuesday’s trip to South Wales, Shackleton had healed from his injury; nonetheless, he was not included in the team because his first child was born earlier this week.
Shackleton is back in the running to be in the squad tomorrow lunchtime, Farke said in his pre-match press conference. However, he did joke that he is a little “tired” considering the events of the previous week. The 30-year-old Byram has undoubtedly been the season’s biggest surprise thus far. After joining on trial at first, the defender—who had been sidelined by ailments for a while—reunited with Farke at Leeds United’s training facility.
“Just like Patrick, he won’t be available and might not return for Leicester. We will likely be without him for the next game against Leicester, but it would be a lovely little surprise if it could happen.
In fact, Farke stated that Patrick Bamford, like Byram, will miss tomorrow’s game and may not play against Leicester on Friday night. The latter, considering his recent form, a severe blow.
A further setback is Byram’s exclusion. However, Jamie Shackleton has returned following the birth of his kid, and Connor Roberts has signed, so we have backup at full-back for Junior Firpo and Archie Gray.
Therefore, while losing Byram won’t be the end of the world, it will cast further question on his future for a player who is eager to sign a new contract with Leeds because his current one expires in June.
