DEAL DONE: Leeds have successfully signed a contract of$2o million and…..

No matter how Leeds United does in the FA Cup’s fifth round, they will still have received £405,000 from the competition. Tuesday night at Home Park, the Whites defeated Plymouth Argyle 4-1 in overtime to guarantee their place in the round of 16.

The victory sets up an away matchup in the following round either Chelsea or Aston Villa. On Wednesday night, the two teams will play a replay at Villa Park to determine who advances.

Leeds will undoubtedly be viewed as underdogs in their fifth round matchup due to their Championship standing, but they will be confident in their ability to pull off an upset after going eight games without a loss in 2024. If Leeds manages to surprise everyone and defeat Premier League opponents later this month, the FA will give them £225,000 in prize money.

But even if Daniel Farke’s team is eliminated from the competition, their cup run this season will have brought in a sizable sum of money. The Whites won £105,000 with their easy victory over Peterborough United in the third round last month, and they added a further £120,000 to their coffers with their victory over Plymouth. Naturally, the rematch with the Pilgrims was shown live on BBC One, which meant that in addition to the money they got from the competition’s prize fund, Leeds and Plymouth also received a live broadcast fee of £55,000.
