After a difficult start to their epic road trip to the Grammys, LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers have won three games in a row. As they return to Los Angeles, the Lakers are currently two games above.500, and James, who turned 39 recently, is still playing at an All-NBA caliber.
As the NBA trade deadline draws near, a number of LeBron James teams’ supporting cast members have undoubtedly been having sleepless nights. Christian Wood, a big man for the Lakers who signed with the team this past offseason as a free agent, is one name that has been making the rounds of rumors.
John Hollinger of The Athletic recently stated, “Don’t be surprised if the Lakers surrender a second-round pick to land Wood on another roster if L.A. doesn’t do a larger deal.” This will probably cost more than a normal contract with a minimum expiration date because of his $3 million player option for the following season; it will probably need more than simply money. However, in Los Angeles’ situation, it will be a beneficial deal due to the financial calculations involved in getting below-tax teams access to the almost $9 million tax dividend.
