A £43,000-per-week player could depart Crystal Palace before …….

The England international is “one to keep an eye on,” according to Crook of talkSPORT, ahead of Thursday night’s transfer deadline.

TalkSPORT’s Chief Football Correspondent stated on X (formerly Twitter): “As stated here, wouldn’t rule out Sam Johnstone signing with Nottingham Forest before Thursday’s transfer deadline.” Someone to watch out for.

Recently, Dean Henderson moved the man earning £43,000 a week down Roy Hodgson’s hierarchy.

Due to an injury sustained during Selhurst Park’s 2-1 loss to Liverpool, Johnstone’s fellow England international was able to assume the top rank.

The 30-year-old had made 16 Premier League appearances for Crystal Palace this season up to that point, recording five clean sheets.

We believe that Johnstone cannot possibly depart SE25 by the deadline on Thursday.

Goalkeeper Henderson is prone to injuries; earlier in the season, after injuring his thigh during his debut at Old Trafford, the Crystal Palace number thirty missed a significant portion of the campaign.

Selling Johnstone would therefore put the unfavorable prospect of Remi Matthews or the inexperienced Joe Whitworth in goal during a relegation struggle.

If the Crystal Palace number one is unable to remove Henderson from the starting lineup, he might try to go in the summer. For the time being, though, we are quite unlikely to see a January departure happen.

Nevertheless, keep a watch on Selhurst Park’s transfer happenings, as Adam Wharton’s signing from Blackburn ought to be revealed soon.
