SADLY: Lions head coach has been fired because he ………..
The top-ranked offense of the Detroit Lions has carried the team to its first NFC championship game in thirty-two years. However, in order to improve as a team the following season, NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks projects that the Lions will select Penn State edge rusher Chop Robinson in the first round of the 2024 mock draft. Brooks wrote, “The Lions need to find a complementary pass rusher to place opposite Aidan Hutchinson. Robinson is a freak athlete.” The Lions could use an extra pass rusher opposite defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, who led the team with 18 sacks during the 2023 regular season; however, Hutchinson was the only Lions defender with more than five sacks.
One of the NFL’s brightest young pass rushers is Hutchinson. In his first two seasons in the NFL, he had at least 9.5 sacks. Hutchinson was the NFL’s top pressurer in 2023.
Hutchinson has tallied 8 sacks in only the last 4 games. His other stats over the last four games are on par with what his colleagues have accomplished all season.
Including the regular season and two postseason games, Hutchinson would rank third on the Lions with the 31 pressures he made over the previous four weeks, according to Benjamin Raven of MLive.com.
Obviously, Brooks is right. In addition to Hutchinson, the Lions might need a complementary pass rusher.
Robinson played in 30 collegiate games for Maryland and Penn State, but only managed 11.5 sacks. However, Robinson’s exceptional athleticism makes NFL evaluators like his potential at the next level.
