Knoxville, Tennessee (WVLT) A Knoxville man was sentenced on Friday for his involvement in a fatal drag racing collision in January 2023. Tra’Shawn Glass was sentenced to 12 years in prison, including six years for vehicular homicide and four years for each aggravated assault conviction, according to the Knox County District Attorney’s Office. He pleaded guilty to the charges in April. According to the Knoxville Police Department, Glass was driving one of the cars involved in a drag racing incident that occurred on E. Magnolia Avenue near Milligan Street on January 17, 2023. It killed one person and injured several others, including two children.

According to a KPD investigation, Glass and Trinity Clark were drag racing on E. Magnolia Avenue when they blew a red light at Milligan and collided with an SUV driven by Michael Williams. Williams was rushed to the hospital and later died, according to KPD. Two children, aged 11 and six at the time, were sent to the hospital in critical condition. They underwent many surgeries and physical rehabilitation over the next few months before returning to school in August.
