Close to joining Motherwell on loan, Adam Montgomery is looking for more fringe star deals from SPFL clubs like Celtic

Motherwell is in the lead in their pursuit of signing Adam Montgomery from Celtic.

In an effort to sign the left-sided defender, the Steelmen will have to fend off interest from a number of Premiership rivals and English teams. With Brodie Spencer being recalled by Huddersfield, Well manager Stuart Kettlewell decided to prioritize a left-back. Kettlewell relieved by last week’s Celtic recall of Montgomery from his Fleetwood Town loan. Montgomery was permitted to play for the English team under former captain Scott Brown, although the team has since had two managers.

Moving to Fir Park appears to be approved, and head coach Brendan Rodgers of the Hornets intends to maintain a careful watch on Montgomery. The 21-year-old has spent time on loan at St Johnstone and Aberdeen in previous seasons. In order to keep a tight eye on their peripheral players, Celtic plans to send several of them to the Premiership. Hyeokkyu Kwon, a midfielder from South Korea, has recently joined St Mirren on loan from Parkhead for the remainder of the season.
