Veteran safety Tracy Walker III was released by the Detroit Lions, the organization announced on social media Tuesday night.
Walker appeared to bid Detroit farewell on Instagram earlier in the day on Tuesday.

Walker, a Louisiana native, was selected by the Lions as the 82nd overall choice in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft. Walker was a key member of the Lions’ secondary for the majority of his first four seasons, and on March 15, 2022, he agreed to a three-year, $25 million agreement. However, in Week 3, he suffered an Achilles tear, which prevented him from playing the rest of the 2022 season.
This past season, Walker would mostly play as a backup, however he did start five games when C.J. Gardner-Johnson had a torn pectoral muscle. Ifeatu Melifonwu took his starting spot in the second half of the season.
