According to German journalist Raphael Honigstein, who spoke with TNT Sports, Oliver Glasner is qualified to succeed Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace and keep the team from going down. After Hodgson left, Palace hired the former manager of Eintracht Frankfurt, with the team sitting just five points above the relegation zone. The action, according to Honigstein, “will not daunt” Glasner. Towards the twilight of Hodgson’s reign, Palace had difficulties. They lost badly to Brighton & Hove Albion and Arsenal before Hodgson’s tenure came to an end with a humiliating home loss to Chelsea.
The Palace board personally selected Glasner to take over as manager in the hopes that he can lead the team to safety after dropping to 16th place, five points above the drop zone.
According to Honigstein, “[He is] very driven, very committed,” to TNT Sports. Everyone acknowledges that he is an exceptionally skilled coach. Fans of Crystal Palace should definitely look forward to his reign, which I believe will be quite exciting.
Honigstein went on to say of Glasner’s playing style, “He likes to play three [defenders] at the back.” He had some experience in the Red Bull football school, having begun as an administrator at RB Salzburg and rising to the position of assistant coach under Roger Schmidt in 2012.
