The Cleveland Browns have made some changes to their coaching staff, including firing offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt and former Seahawks linebacker Stump Mitchell.

One name that has come up for the open OC spot is Seahawks offensive line coach Andy Dickerson.Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reports that Dickerson plans to interview for what would be the first offensive coordinator role of his coaching career.

Dickerson previously coached the Browns in 2009 and 2010, so he knows the organization. The Seahawks hired Dickerson from the Los Angeles Rams as their 2021 playoff coordinator.

Taking over from Mike Solar, Dickerson was promoted to offensive line coach, where he had the difficult task of leading a young, inexperienced and often injured unit.

The offensive line rankings aren’t great, unfortunately, but there were games like the win against the Detroit Lions where the OL held up well despite playing left and right tackle.

Just when you thought Seattle’s offensive line was seriously hurt, Cleveland lost three of its best offensive linemen to season-ending injuries, including All-Pro Jack Conklin. Former Seahawks tight end Ethan Pocic, often injured in Seattle, had the best season of his career, starting 15 of 17 games.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski is the play caller, so whoever gets the Cleveland OC job is not taking on those responsibilities.

Dickerson and current Seattle OC Shane Waldron attend three interviews for open positions elsewhere. And yes, it’s hard to ignore that the only Seahawks assistant interviews/interesting reports we’ve heard so far are about the offense and special teams, not the defense..
