On Thursday, November 29, 2007, five individuals lost their lives in an accident on the road leading from the Phalaborwa entrance gate to the Mopani rest camp in the Kruger National Park (KNP). The incident marked the end of a holiday filled with sadness.

It is estimated that the collision happened at approximately 16:45. The vehicle’s confused driver was discovered at the accident location, which is a single causeway crossing the Letaba River, by the wife of a KNP official. They drove him to the Nxanatseni south regional ranger’s office at the Phalaborwa gate complex, where they arrived at around 18:40.

 

The driver was taken to the Phalaborwa hospital by regional ranger Louis Olivier, where he received treatment for shock and minor wounds. Meanwhile, the Phalaborwa emergency services and Kruger rangers
