Woods has said that, despite battling a number of medical conditions, including surgery on his right ankle, his objective for this season was to compete in golf once a month.
That objective remains unfulfilled: Back spasms forced him to quit from the Genesis Invitational in late February, ending his most recent tournament run.
During a press conference on Tuesday to give an early look at the 2024 Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, five-time Masters winner Tiger Woods exuded confidence.
At Augusta National Golf Club, Woods told reporters that despite his recent struggles with health, he thought he could win this week.
“If everything comes together, I think I can get one more,” Woods stated.
The 48-year-old Woods has seen a long list of physical setbacks in recent years, which raised concerns about his golf mortality on Tuesday.
“Every day I hurt,” Woods admitted. “Every day I hurt, and I like it hot, muggy, and warm.” At least it will be hot because I know there will be thunderstorms this week.”
“Every shot that’s not on the tee box is a challenge,” Woods stated. “Once we start the hole it’s a bit of a challenge.”
“The body changes on a daily basis with the exercises we have to perform at home and the things that just pop up. I feel great some days and not so well other days.”
