Mark Allen has resisted being forced into a political argument in the run-up to the first-ever Riyadh Season World Masters of Snooker. The top athletes in the game will go for the competition in Saudi Arabia early next month, despite strong opposition to holding an event in the Middle East.
There is almost much in sports that Saudi Arabia hasn’t taken control of. Snooker is the most recent sport to be affected by Saudi money, along with Formula One, football, boxing, and golf. The competition, which has a massive £800,000 prize pool up for grabs, is scheduled to take place from March 4–6.
However, snooker great Allen, who waltzed to victory at the Players Championship last week, has refrained from commenting on the situation.

morality of holding a competition in Saudi Arabia. Allen stated prior to the March meeting: “It’s another chance to go and win a snooker tournament.” Whatever the location of my play, I stay out of politics. That’s just who I am. My goals in life are to make more money and secure a bright future for my family. I’m only concerned about that.It excites me because I believe the event will be enormous. We’re going to have class, I believe. I believe we will receive excellent care. There will be a ton of razzmatazz, which is likely going to be a little bit different from what you’re used to in snooker.
