The Colorado Rockies have claimed outfielder Sam Hilliard off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles, the group reported Wednesday evening.
In a comparing move, Colorado put right-handed pitcher Antonio Senzatela on the 60-day harmed list as he proceeds to recuperate from Tommy John surgery. The Orioles, on the other hand, are not making any extra moves.
Baltimore at first claimed Hilliard off waivers from the Atlanta Braves in November. Some weeks afterward, the two sides dodged assertion by concurring to an $800K compensation for 2024.
Hilliard made his MLB make a big appearance in 2019 and started to carve out a more consistent part as Colorado’s fourth outfielder within the resulting seasons. He showed up in 214 recreations for the Rockies in a four-year span, batting .212 with 29 domestic runs, 71 RBI, 15 stolen bases, a .717 OPS and a 1.8 WAR.
Colorado exchanged Hilliard to Atlanta in November 2022, and he showed up in 40 diversions for the Braves in 2023. In that restricted time, Hilliard hit .236 with three domestic runs, six RBI, four stolen bases, a .725 OPS and a 0.2 WAR.
Hilliard showed up in two Grapefruit Alliance diversions for the Orioles at Spring Preparing this past end of the week, going 0-for-3 with two strolls and two strikeouts. He will presently make the flight out to Arizona, where he will connect the Rockies for Cactus Association activity and compete for an Opening Day list spot.
