Completed Deal: A $66.7 million contract has been agreed between the Philadelphia Eagles  And Dallas

Few could have predicted the catastrophe that would occur with the Eagles. Philadelphia must now decide what to do with Byard going forward. This offseason, Aaron Schatz of ESPN projected one audacious move for each NFL team.

According to the analyst, Byard will be cut by the Eagles in the upcoming weeks. According to NFL reports, Byard is a popular cap casualty.

As Philadelphia collapsed down the line, Yarder was an intriguing midseason pickup for the Eagles, but Schatz wrote in an article titled “2024 NFL offseason: Bold moves, trades in free agency, draft for all 32 teams” on February 23, 2024. Although he’s a talented player, the Eagles can use him to free up salary cap room.

The Eagles would save $13 million on the cap this year with just $1.4 million in dead money if Byard were cut.
On a two-year, $25.1 million contract, Byard has one season left. The two-time Pro Bowl player’s 2024 salary is projected to be $9.6 million, with a $14.2 million cap charge.

Given that most of this money is uncertain, Philly has some wiggle room. Byard’s release would only cost the Eagles $711,000 in dead cap space, potentially saving them almost $13 million.

Pro Football Focus gave Byard a solid 74 for his performance in 2023. After the midseason trade, the veteran finished 2023 with 75 tackles, 3 pass deflections, and an interception in 10 starts for the Eagles
