Sun Day Red and Tiger Woods made their debuts at the Genesis Invitational last week, but Woods’s flu-related postponement of the soft launch was inevitable. Even though the week was cut short, we still got to see everything Sun Day Red has to offer and what this new age has in store.
We got to see the new logo—which had been making the rounds on the internet for a few weeks—in action and discover more about Sun Day Red after they teased the gear launch last Monday, just before the tournament began. However, the attire displayed at this private event appeared to be more lifestyle-oriented than the gear worn on the course, with just two golf shirts.

The teaser gives us the impression that SDR will have a more muted aesthetic with simple design and high-end, luxurious products rather than being like J. Lindeberg or G/FORE, where the creative use of color is the defining feature. Maybe an illustration of Woods’ current professional status? He’s evolved into an experienced, seasoned player who keeps the younger men on their toes instead of that youthful, attention-grabbing player (debatable).
Woods showed up on Tuesday dressed in an ensemble that exemplifies the sandwich theory, the ultimate capsule wardrobe trick. By matching two pieces of the same hue to serve as the focal point of an ensemble, the sandwich principle produces harmony throughout.
