Alabama Nick Sheridan has been appointed offensive coordinator by Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer, while JaMarcus Shephard has been named co-offensive coordinator.
DeBoer made the hires public on Tuesday. Sheridan takes over for Ryan Grubb, who was appointed as the offensive coordinator of the Seattle Seahawks of the NFL, but had intended to accompany DeBoer from Washington to Alabama.
In a statement, DeBoer stated, “We are thrilled to have Nick and JaMarcus join us at Alabama. They are both fantastic coaches.” They understand our goals on that side of the football field and have familiarity with our offense. At every stage of their careers, they have demonstrated themselves to be outstanding instructors and recruiters, bringing a great deal of passion and energy to their work.”

Sheridan was DeBoer’s tight ends coach at Indiana (2019) and Washington (2022–23) for three seasons after serving as the team’s offensive coordinator for two years (2020–21). He’ll coach quarterbacks as well.
Shephard will serve as the receivers coach and head coach’s assistant. After five seasons at Purdue, where he served as co-offensive coordinator during the final four games, he became a receivers coach at Washington. alongside the Huskies, he collaborated alongside standout receivers Rome Odunze and Ja’Lynn Polk.

In an extensive, one-hour interview with ESPN on Tuesday, Baker showed little empathy for the numerous coaches who have openly expressed their frustrations with keeping consistent teams in the new collegiate sports landscape. This environment permits player transfers with less restrictions and name, image, and likeness deals, which have been shown to be inducements for players to consider switching teams.
“I’ve had conversations with a bunch of coaches who didn’t … walk out on their contracts,” Baker stated. “Coaches walk out on their contracts is one of the things I hear from youngsters when I talk to them about this issue. How about us? “
