The Austrian was present at Goodison Park on Monday when Jordan Ayew’s incredible goal against Everton earned a point. He was seated next to Steve Parish and Dougie Freedman.
The Athletic reports that during his interview, the man from Salzburg made a big impression on Crystal Palace.
According to reports, Glasner particularly impressed by offering detailed suggestions on how the Eagles may advance under his coaching style, including lineups that could enable Crystal Palace manage without important players like Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze. It sounds like Glasner was eager to make an impression on Parish, which is good news for us, rather than the Crystal Palace Chairman needing to win over the 49-year-old to replace Hodgson.
The 1-1 draw between Crystal Palace and Everton on Monday gave hints as to what the team would look like under Glasner.
Joel Ward, Joachim Andersen, and Chris Richards played in the center of defense of a 3-4-3 formation devised by Paddy McCarthy and Ray Lewington, while Tyrick Mitchell and Daniel Munoz advanced as wing-backs.
While Jordan Ayew, Odsonne Edouard, and Jean-Phillipe-Mateta were picked in attack, Adam Wharton and Jefferson Lerma sat in a pivotal midfield position.
The Eagles might become a serious force once players like Eze, Olise, Marc Guehi, and Cheick Doucoure are reintroduced to the team and Glasner has some time to put his ideas into practice. The approach seemed to function well until Crystal Palace simply ran out of steam after going ahead 1-0.
It’s interesting to note that the 49-year-old, who was seen motioning to advance during Monday’s draw on Merseyside, already appears eager to instill an aggressive mindset.
