The Milton Keynes team took off the blankets from its rampaging, spring-loaded bull, the RB20, on February 15. And the Red Bull factory now has a more “aggressive” appearance. What has Red Bull brought to the table, and do they have what it takes to win another driver’s and constructor’s title as pre-season testing approaches? Let’s investigate.
Now that the covers are off, let us all introduce ourselves to Red Bull’s newest offering, the RB20. That being said, Red Bull had some secrets that they wished to keep under wraps. Teams in Formula 1 have consistently attempted to improve their car’s design in order to obtain a competitive edge. Teams will do all in their ability to prevent other teams from replicating such a design, such as putting television cameras at a distance or, in a popular move, arranging most of the pit crew in front of the car.
This Red Bull strategy was uncovered by the Race YouTube channel, when several team members piled behind the vehicle to shield the back of the RB20 from unsuspecting observers. Red Bull has already hinted that they will be taking yet another chance with their design philosophy. Will the new, secretive design prove to be another effective attempt to hold onto the crown, or will gremlins start to appear with their more “aggressive” appearance?
