The Yankees’ shared interest in two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell was evident earlier in the winter. After Snell expressed interest in playing for the Yanks, the team extended an offer in January.
But according to two league sources, there hasn’t been any movement toward a contract or momentum between the parties for more than a month. One of the league sources claims that the Yankees officially withdrew their original offer when it was rejected, but it does not mean that talks cannot take place again in the future.
One gets the distinct impression that the Yankees will stick with their current starting rotation both inside the clubhouse and throughout the team’s facilities. Jordan Montgomery was another player in whom the organization showed interest early in the winter, but that has also stalled.
Snell and Montgomery can’t be completely ruled out for the Yankees as long as they’re available, and negotiations can proceed swiftly once they get underway. However, it wasn’t moving at all as of late Monday morning.
Stanton realized he needed to make changes this offseason after yet another season marred by injuries, so he chose to concentrate more on movement-based exercises in an effort to increase his agility.
Stanton informed reporters on Monday morning that he feels great going into the new season, and word on the team is that he has lost a significant amount of weight.
