Aston Martin admit “market exploded” due to Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari

The Aston Martin CEO acknowledges that the “market exploded” after Lewis Hamilton signed with Ferrari.

Mike Krack is aware that Fernando Alonso, his driver, is probably going to be on the short list for Mercedes’ 2025 driver slot, following Hamilton.

This year, Alonso’s contract with Aston Martin will end, putting him accessible to Mercedes should they choose to make a move. Alonso is 42 years old.

“The whole market exploded with Lewis’ signature,” team principal Krack said to Sky.

“We anticipated a ridiculous season this year.

“The driver market is booming and we haven’t even spun a wheel yet.

“We adore Fernando.” Our wonderful connection is built on trust and transparency.

“It would be wonderful to carry on into 2025 and 2026.

Great times have occurred in 2023. Perhaps even more so in 2024.

The two-time Formula 1 champion Alonso was questioned over his potential transfer to Mercedes in the upcoming season.

He joked, “Let’s see.”

“I am concentrating on the beginning of the season. My focus is on performance, not on what lies ahead.

“If I decide to race in the upcoming years, I’ll try to make a choice early in the season. I don’t want to prolong the procedure past the halfway point of the season. It always has a minor impact on the performance.

“So let’s see if I decide quickly and if everyone on the team is satisfied.”
