The 76-year-old manager is expected to resign down, according to The Guardian, but he won’t be in the dugout on Monday because he fell ill on Thursday. Thankfully, after the event, it is believed that the Palace legend is in a stable condition.
Oliver Glasner, a former coach at Eintracht Frankfurt, is apparently ready to take over for Palace and guide the team to top-flight safety. Glasner signed a contract with Palace that runs until 2026 with an option to extend for an additional year.
The former manager of Eintracht Frankfurt established the team as a top team in the Bundesliga and led them to European success and the Champions League; Palace will be hoping he can accomplish similar things there.
If the team is to see a swift turnaround in performance, the Austrian will need to get to know his players very quickly. This season, the team’s only focus will be on surviving, with the summer months serving as a time to reassess his players.
In light of this, let’s examine three players who have made significant appearances this season and whom Glasner may want to trade away from Selhurst Park. This season, Nathaniel Clyne has proven to be a valuable member of the squad. He has replaced Joel Ward in injuries and, more famously, stepped in at left-back against his old team, Liverpool, in place of the injured Tyrick Mitchell.
