We’ve used ranking to kill time during the past few winters. We included other less enjoyable lists in addition to ranking every Sixers and Eagles player according to position.
We made the decision to examine every position in the Phillies’ illustrious 100+ year history and compile a list of the all-time greats at each position over the course of the next two weeks, as pitchers and catchers report to Clearwater for the 2024 Phillies season.More over 2,000 different players have appeared in at least one Phillies game, so we’re going to keep our lists to 10 (plus a few more mentions). However, we did examine each person.
Relief pitching is really hit or miss, as the Phillies have just found out. Reliability and longevity in a bullpen arm are uncommon. As is the nature of the work, we tried our best to discover the greatest of them throughout the franchise’s history, but it was uncommon to find a hurler without a few flaws. It was also intriguing to observe how many of the best relievers in Phillies history are viewed by many fans as controversial or hateful.
