BREAKING NEWS: Leeds united advised to sign a player coming off career for the best performance…
Currently leading the Whites in scoring, while Lewis Cook is excelling at Bournemouth. James Milner, Fabian Delph, and Kalvin Phillips all went on to win the Premier League. Many people might not be aware of one Premier League midfielder who attended Leeds’ academy, though.
Tom Cairney of Fulham did, in fact, begin his career with Leeds as a young player. The Fulham captain has been talking about his time in West Yorkshire and his eventual release from the club on the Footballer’s Football Podcast.
Cairney praises the coaching in particular and believes he had a great experience at Leeds’ academy, but he also claims that the club let him go at the age of 16 due to his stature.
“I began my academy days at Leeds United.” An esteemed and excellent academy. In retrospect, I believe I enrolled in the academy a little too soon. It seemed too youthful and serious. Right from the start, it felt like a job. I was discharged at the age of sixteen due to the physical aspect of the game; I was really small and slight. fantastic coaches, fantastic academy,” Cairney remarked.
In the end, his bulk proved to be irrelevant. Being technically proficient allows him to not rely too much on his strength, and at 6 feet 1 inch, he’s not exactly one of the tiniest players in the game.
Although Leeds has always produced excellent youth players, it’s safe to say they failed on this occasion.
