DONE DEAL: Crystal Palace has finally won the race by signing an incredible star worth $15.6 million ………
Maxwel Cornet, a winger for West Ham United, could be loaned to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park; Ed Aarons of The Guardian details the possible Deadline Day transfer.
In the last hours of the 2024 winter transfer window, the Eagles are trying to add to Roy Hodgson’s options in an effort to keep themselves out of the running for Premier League relegation.
A loan agreement for Cornet has been agreed upon by Palace and West Ham, but the transfer is more complicated than it first appears. In order to avoid David Moyes’ team pulling out of any deal, the Eagles must hope that the Irons can sign a winger themselves in the last hours of the 2024 winter transfer window.
Although Cornet has only made two Premier League appearances for West Ham in the 2023–2024 season, the east London team may find him to be a valuable striker cover. Due to a string of injuries to attacking players, such as Michail Antonio, the center forward for West Ham, Jarrod Bowen has been forced to fill the role of the unaccustomed No. 9.
In order to avoid having to start over late in the day—which might be expensive at this point in the transfer market—Palace will be pleading with West Ham to complete a deal.
After some unsettling outcomes, Hodgson is under pressure to change things at Crystal Palace. Fears of relegation will have subsided after the Eagles’ 3-2 victory over Sheffield United on January 30, but the supporters in south London will be expecting more from the team in the second half of the season.
