After much anticipation, Kalvin Phillips eventually left Manchester City and completed a loan transfer to West Ham. This has caused several of his old Leeds United teammates to react.

Following his summer 2022 transfer from Leeds to Manchester City, the 28-year-old has had difficulty. After 234 games for us, he decided to pay £45 million to join the Premier League winners.

However, injuries, notably a painful shoulder ailment that nearly prevented him from competing in the World Cup, have restricted Phillips to only six starts for City in the last 18 months, out of 31 league and cup appearances. Not nearly enough.

He made the decision to go, choosing to join West Ham after having connections with Tottenham, Newcastle, Juventus, and even Barcelona. If City hadn’t acquired him in 2022, he stated he would have gone with West Ham.

After it was revealed that he has signed on loan until the summer, Phillips took to Instagram on Friday afternoon. He will now be concentrating on creating an impression with West Ham in both the League and Europe.

It’s a wise decision on Phillips’ part. To convince Gareth Southgate that he should be a key member of England’s squad for the summer European Championship, he will need to win games. East London is ideal for him because of this.

In addition to having the second half of the Premier League season to do that, Phillips also has the opportunity to give Moyes’ West Ham, who are still in the Europa League, a serious go at Europe.
