NEWS NOW:Red sox coach has a conflict with his key player……..
Because of his wife’s ties to the area, MLB insider Jon Heyman stated that the Boston Red Sox have a “good possibility” of signing top free agent pitcher Jordan Montgomery if he decides not to rejoin the Texas Rangers.
In a video that was uploaded on X, Heyman stated, “If things don’t work out in Texas, I think Boston is a good alternative for Montgomery.” “I assume his wife is enrolled in Harvard Medical School or a residency program. and I’ve heard that Montgomery is a big favorite of the Red Sox.
McKenzie Dirr, the wife of Montgomery, graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, attended Harvard Medical School, and started her residency in a Boston hospital. Montgomery has been working out at Boston College over the offseason since the couple’s recent move.
In Boston, Montgomery would quickly get to the top of a rotation that now consists of Tanner Houck, Lucas Giolito, Nick Pivetta, Brayan Bello, and Kutter Crawford. His arrival would provide much-needed strikeout potential to support an offense that fared better than the team’s 2023 record of 78-84 would indicate.
Boston.com stated that Sam Kennedy, the CEO, informed the media that the team’s payroll for the current season will “probably be lower” than it was in 2023, just before Red Sox Winter Weekend. “Last year’s payroll came to $225 million.”
