NEWS NOW:Miami tight end Cam McCormick is eligible to return for a tenth year in 2024.

Cam McCormick, a tight end for Miami, is announcing his historic return to collegiate football in 2024 for a ninth season. McCormick could have chosen to enter the 2024 NFL Draft, but he opted to stay on the Hurricanes for another year of college. He worked at Oregon for the first seven years of his career. Coming out of the 2016 recruiting class, McCormick was rated as a three-star talent. During his time with the Ducks, he had season-ending injuries four times in a row (2018–2021) and was given extra eligibility by the NCAA.

McCormick has 26 receptions for 231 yards and four touchdowns in 42 career games. In all, he made 21 starts, including 11 at Miami last season, when he caught eight passes for 62 yards.

In 2016, McCormick redshirted his freshman year of college. In the next season at Oregon in 2017, he participated in all 13 games and made two starts, grabbing six receptions for 89 yards and a score. Due to a string of serious injuries that kept him out of action, McCormick would not play again until 2021 after suffering a season-ending injury in the 2018 season opener vs Bowling Green.

He participated in the first two games of the 2021 campaign before suffering another injury that ended the season. Before sustaining the injury, he caught one ball for 16 yards in the Ducks’ thrilling victory over Ohio State, gaining an important first down.
