CURRENT NEWS:Miami tight end Cam McCormick is eligible to return for a tenth year in 2024.
Cam McCormick, a tight end for Miami, is announcing his historic return to collegiate football in 2024 for a ninth season. McCormick could have chosen to enter the 2024 NFL Draft, but he opted to stay on the Hurricanes for another year of college. He worked at Oregon for the first seven years of his career. Coming out of the 2016 recruiting class, McCormick was rated as a three-star talent. During his time with the Ducks, he had season-ending injuries four times in a row (2018–2021) and was given extra eligibility by the NCAA.
In 42 career games played, McCormick has 26 catches for 231 yards and four touchdowns. He made 21 total starts, including 11 this past season at Miami, hauling in eight receptions for 62 yards. McCormick redshirted during his first year of college in 2016. He played in all 13 games and made two starts the following season at Oregon in 2017, hauling in six receptions for 89 yards and a touchdown. In 2018, McCormick suffered a season-ending injury in the opener against Bowling Green and did not return to the field until 2021 due to a series of significant injuries that kept him sidelined
He played in the first two games of the 2021 campaign before again sustaining a season-ending injury. He caught one pass for 16 yards in the Ducks’ upset win at Ohio State, picking up a crucial first down before suffering the injury.
