BREAKING NEWS: Tennessee coach has terminated his contract of $50 million ………
The University of Tennessee football team was penalized by the N.C.A.A. for recruiting infractions and direct cash payments to athletes. The organization also withheld scholarships and levied a $8 million fine for what it called a culture of blatantly breaking the law in an attempt to win.
Numerous examples were provided in the N.C.A.A. report, such as “at least 110 impermissible hotel nights” and “180 impermissible meals” in addition to frequent cash payments of $5,000 or $6,000 made to recruits’ parents by former Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt and other program participants, who then worked to conceal the payments from the official athletic department books. The perks that were prohibited came to a total of almost $60,000.
