Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips, an academy product of Leeds United, and West Ham “have reached agreement” to sign Phillips.
After moving from his childhood club, Leeds, to the Etihad Stadium in 2022, the 28-year-old has had difficulty making an impression. This season, he has not made a single league start and has made a total of 31 appearances in all competitions.
The England international will play out the remainder of the season in the capital, according to Manchester City and The Athletic.
Phillips’ pay is reportedly being paid by West Ham for the length of his stay at the London Stadium. Although the Hammers seem to be in the lead to sign him, he has also been linked to teams like Newcastle United and Crystal Palace.
Phillips may still be considered for a berth in Gareth Southgate’s Euro 2024 team if he moves to West Ham. Though he has an abundance of choices in midfield, the Three Lions manager is an admirer of Phillips.
Born into the Leeds academy, Phillips rose through the youth levels at Thorp Arch and went on to establish himself as a crucial role at the senior level.
Under Marcelo Bielsa’s guidance, he flourished and played a crucial role in the Whites’ 2020 Premier League comeback.
