Ronnie O’Sullivan wins World Grand Prix final in stunning comeback to claim £100k payday

In the World Grand Prix final in Leicester on Sunday, snooker legend Ronnie O’Sullivan pulled off a miraculous comeback against Judd Trump by winning six straight frames.

In the Sunday World Grand Prix final, Ronnie O’Sullivan overcame a 4-0 deficit to defeat Judd Trump, earning a historic 10-7 victory.

Trump had the better of the opening part of the match, but O’Sullivan kept up his incredible run by winning six straight frames. Since September, The Rocket has won the World Grand Prix as well as the Shanghai Masters, UK Championship, and The Masters.

Following his triumph on Sunday, O’Sullivan received a prize money of £100,000, whereas Trump was only able to get £40,000. Fans are hoping for a record ninth global victory thanks to his incredible run, which began in April before of this year’s Sheffield competition.

At that point, O’Sullivan came alive. For the first time in the match, he took the lead after winning the following four frames. In the 14th frame, Trump had a chance to tie the score at seven, but the Bristolian missed the last black, allowing his opponent to take an eight-six advantage.

Then followed the exhausting fifteenth frame, which oscillated in intensity until O’Sullivan at last seized the lead to go within one frame of winning. However, Trump was not going down without a fight, and he fought back to cut The Rocket’s advantage to just two frames.

Nevertheless, O’Sullivan completed one of the greatest comebacks by winning the last frame and winning his third World Grand Prix championship. O’Sullivan stated to ITV, “It was great, extremely enjoyable… I was thinking it would be an early night and a 10-1 job when Judd blasted me off the table!
