Defensive lineman Jaxson Moi from Stanford has been Tennessee’s second transfer portal pledge of the day. After spending this past weekend in Knoxville, Moi reaffirmed his preference for Tennessee over Washington.
On Sunday, Moi announced the news via X.
Following his second year at Stanford, the 6-2, 303-pound defensive lineman is entering his last season. He will be able to play in Knoxville for the next two seasons.
According to 247Sports, the San Diego, California native was a three-star talent out of high school and ranked 541st overall in the class.
Last season, Moi played in all 12 Stanford games, starting seven of them, including the last six games. He received credit for 15 tackles.
Omari Thomas and Omarr Norman-Lott will be back for Tennessee in the center of the defense. Tyre West, Daevin Hobbs, Dominic Bailey, and Bryson Eason will also be important players in 2024. Garner is still growing and becoming stronger, and Moi provides them with another experienced player to add to the rotation.
Tyler Baron, a former edge rusher for the Tennessee Volunteers, declared on social media on Tuesday that he was abandoning his pledge to play for the Ole Miss Rebels and would instead like to join the Louisville Cardinals.
Baron attended Tennessee for the previous four years, but following his senior year, he used the transfer portal in December. On December 16, he declared his commitment to Ole Miss.
In spite of that pledge, Baron apparently visited Louisville last week.
