Leeds United and Sheffield United want to sign Everton defender …..

On January 21, the Italian publication stated on their website that the out-of-favour Toffees player is a target for the Whites this month, although Sheffield United is a rival.

He has only appeared three times in all competitions this season, which is thought to make him a reasonably cheap target due to his lack of playing time under Sean Dyche at Goodison Park.

All three defensive positions are areas that need to be strengthened this month due to the decisions made to terminate Djed Spence’s loan and permit Luke Ayling to depart for Middlesbrough, as well as a private dispute with Charlie Cresswell and worries about Sam Byram and Junior Firpo’s injuries.

Godfrey, a former Norwich City player, is mostly a center-back but also has the ability to play full-back, which might make him appealing at Elland Road.

He would give cover if needed and is a competent center option, but he is unlikely to be an improvement over Firpo and Byram on the left, or even Archie Gray on the right.

Leeds United probably wouldn’t find him too pricey if they wanted to sign him permanently, but considering Everton’s financial problems, they probably wouldn’t be too interested in letting Godfrey go on loan.

Another potential complicating element is the circumstances behind the Toffees’ point penalty and probable compensation to the Whites.

While Leeds was unable to stop Jack Harrison’s loan departure in recent months, they adamantly refused to allow Willy Gnonto to join him on a permanent contract in the summer.
