DeBoer ‘not really worried’ about Alabama transfers, fans worry; explain faith.
Alabama football experienced a culture shock this past week when the torch passed from Nick Saban to Kalen DeBoer. Several coaches and players have flocked to rivals, championship odds have dwindled and fans, no longer on top of the sport for the first time in nearly two decades, haven’t had the easiest time adjusting.Appearing on “The Paul Finebaum Show” for the first time since his hiring on January 12, DeBoer was asked to allay public concerns about the demolition of the Mal M. “I think it’s just the world we live in right now. When you have changes and transitions, there are changes throughout the program. A lot of these programs go through changes without a head coach change. I just look at it, obviously you expect it. happen to some degree,” DeBoer said. “We’re going to attract the right people to the program, whether it’s staff or players. And it’s a place with the best facilities and the best resources in the country, and with all of that we can support the big players that come here.“I think what me and my guys would say to the fans is that they’re excited about the staff that we’re bringing in and what we’re going to do. I’m really not worried at all.”Since Saban’s retirement on Jan. 10, nine scholarship players have entered the portal, the most notable being Caleb Downs and Kadyn Proctor. Two sophomores are also known to be leaving, with five-star quarterback Julian Sayin leaving Thursday.
