famous leeds player joyfully asked to be………..

On Friday, January 19, the Whites revealed via a statement on their website that the 20-year-old has inked a new long-term deal that would keep him at Elland Road until 2028.

That might be terrible news for Gelhardt because the squad has committed to his colleague, who is now competing with him for a spot on the Elland Road bench.

Since joining Leeds from Wigan Athletic three years ago, after making a splash with some standout performances for the Lancashire club, Gelhardt has seen mixed results.

The 21-year-old showed early promise, but since making his first-team debut against Fulham in the Carabao Cup in 2021, he has mostly disappointed.

Despite playing in up to 49 games for the team and only scoring three goals and providing seven assists, the forward hasn’t been completely lacking of opportunities.

He signed a new five-year contract in 2022, but he hasn’t exactly been playing well in West Yorkshire. This past year, he was loaned out to Sunderland, and ever since Daniel Farke came over at Elland Road, he hasn’t played much.

Considering that he scored in the Whites’ 2-1 Carabao Cup victory over Shrewsbury Town, he really started four of the team’s first seven competitive games under Manager.

However, he has not impressed in the Championship and has only played six minutes of football since August, casting doubt on his future with the German team.

Gelhardt is probably going to attempt to secure a move away in the future because he’s going to want more chances to play with the first team.

This may be an opportunity for Joseph to establish himself as the team’s fourth striker, behind veteran strikers Georginio Rutter, Joel Piroe, and Patrick Bamford.

Given that the forward, who is Spanish-born and plays for the England U-20s, has appeared five times off the bench in the last nine games, that could already be in motion.

Therefore, there’s every indication that Joseph is now Farke’s fourth choice to head the line going forward.
