Caleb Downs, a safety from Hoschton, Georgia, received a scholarship offer from the Buckeyes on February 18, 2021. Prior to deciding to commit to the Crimson Tide, Downs gave Ohio State considerable thought; in fact, the Buckeyes were in it all the way against Alabama. After an outstanding high school career, the 6-foot, 203-pound Downs was rated as a five-star prospect, the nation’s No. 11 overall prospect, the No. 1 safety, and the No. 1 prospect in Georgia. Downs adds a major boost to what should be an excellent Ohio State defense in the upcoming season.
