On Friday, January 19, Cawley reported for the newspaper that Millwall was unable to come to an agreement about terms for the central defender.
The reporter went on to say that the Championship team then looked to Japhet Tanganga of Tottenham, who they had signed on loan for the remainder of the campaign.
On The South London Press Football Pod, Cawley said, “Millwall did make a couple of, what they felt were big offers, for Creswell, but they didn’t manage to agree terms with Leeds.” As a result, they switched to Plan B, which involved bringing in a very desirable short-term goal.
“I believe that another contributing reason is the fact that Cresswell did not advocate for a permanent relocation this month. Although I’m not positive that everything would work out the way Millwall needed it to, I believe that he was likely going to take out a loan and weigh his options in the summer.
It’s unclear where Cresswell will be playing in the upcoming months and years, but he undoubtedly has a bright future in the game, possibly with both clubs and the national team.
The youthful center defender impressed while on loan at Millwall in the past, but it appears that a return to the team is unlikely for the duration of the current campaign.
During his brief stay, the fans showed a great deal of affection for their loanee, and Leeds supporters were also well aware of the talent that the team possesses.
However, this season, Daniel Farke, the manager, has mostly ignored the youthful center back in favor of players like Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk.
